The Floating Marble

My sister, Patti, suggested placing a beachball in our pool as a sort of decoration. We are amazed at how much this $2.50 ball from Walmart has entertained us (I know, it doesn't take much :-)) with its motion and resemblance to a big floating marble. Thanks, Patti.

Chicken Lasagne

My husband recently requested chicken lasagne for dinner. It is a great make-ahead dish and seems to fit a variety of factors in pleasing different palates. The recipes I used for this was from Southern Living and my hometown church cook book.

Mr. Crow

This spring, for some reason, we have seen more crows than usual. They pranced around in our front yard and also had a nest in the single tree in our yard. One crow had a wing problem but it did not hinder him in anyway that was visible to us. I got this shot of one through the window and was surprised at the detail that was shown.

Dramatic Clouds

One of my favorite artists is Steve Graber, his work can be found in the Bryant Gallery in the French Quarter. The work we have seen is in black and white, clouds being a favorite subject of his. This photograph I made from our backyard of the Texas sky reminds me of his beautiful work.

Huckleberry Cake from KFC

Yes, you read it correctly, Huckleberry Cake from KFC. Recently I was looking at the Kentucky Fried Chicken website and happened upon a link to old recipes from the Colonel. I know he had a restaurant years ago in Corbin, Kentucky. I made this cake, no, it was not made with huckleberries but with blueberries, their cousin. A simple little cake with a dusting of powdered sugar and a cup of coffee.
