April

April is the cruelest month, breeding
Lilacs out of the land, mixing
Memory and desire, stirring
Dull roots with spring rain.
Winter kept us warm, covering
Earth in forgetful snow, feeding
A little life with dried tubers.

The Waste Land

T.S. Eliot

I love the lighting in this painting. It's beautiful. Hoping April will bring our spring flowers to New Jersey. The trees are starting to bud.

Hmmm...this poem makes me think too much. But I am ready for lilacs and memory and desire.

I love art, Cindy. I love poetry. I love springtime. This post offers a pleasing blend of all three. (I also love intelligent, artistic people with a good heart.)

April come she will
When streams are ripe and swelled with rain;
May, she will stay,
Resting in my arms again

Karen, Shady, Violetta and Patti-thank you all for your kind words. Shady, I was not familiar with the Simon and Garfunkel song and those lyrics ... beautiful. Violetta, I love the changes to your blog!
