Yesterday in Pictures

My sister, Patti, took me out to lunch yesterday.  We had a good time and visit.
We were going through old family photos and papers.

A hibiscus tree, we had one in our yard as we were growing up
up for as long as I can remember.  I know bees love these,
I was dodging a bee as I was making this picture.

My sister and I stopped by a comic and baseball card shop.
Patti is getting her grandsons interested in collecting
baseball cards.

I always love this country scene on
the way to my sister's house.

My sister's boyfriend's cockatiel, this is Skeeter.
He does such a good job whistling the theme song
from "The Andy Griffith Show".

Patti and Kevin were fishing under this bridge a few weeks ago.
Patti didn't catch anything but the attention of an "aggressive" snake
swimming toward her.  (Her description but any snake swimming
toward me would be called "aggressive", too.)

Not quite as aggressive as me fleeing from it!

Man, that's a good lookin' salad! I noticed you couldn't eat it all and brought half of it home for dinner.

I have always loved that picturesque spot on the river by the bridge.

Cindy, I swear that you have the most hypnotic header in all of blogdom. Every time I visit here those eyes mesmerize me. I am in a trance. I will obey!

Thank you for recapping your day in pictures. If you have a dislike of snakes, picture this. My day started with an encounter with a poisonous snake! At least, I'm pretty sure that it was a coral snake judging from its color and markings. When I opened the garage door in the predawn darkness I saw the snake lying in the driveway right on the other side. I hate to kill even a bug but Mrs. Shady freaked out and insisted that we kill the snake because it was inches from scurrying inside the garage and possibly from there into the house. I reluctantly agreed. I won't go into the gory details but we killed the serpent and I disposed of it in our woods. The Florida heat wave we're having is bringing out the mosquitoes, the spiders and the snakes. Random lightning strikes here in the lightning capital of the world are touching off brush and muck fires all across the state. Yessum...these are the kinds of things that make life so pleasant down here for at least six months out of the year. Did I mention hurricanes?

Lovely, lovely pics. I can tell from the first one you are being very health conscious in your food choices. Nothing like a healthy meal to make you feel good the rest of the day.

As for swimming snakes, that really gives me the willies! Any snake does, really, but particularly one that is in the water- yuckkkkk!!!!

Shady, Shelly, and Petra! So good to see you all!

You freaked me out, Shady. Not only do I not like snakes, fear snakes ... I have a down right P H O B I A of them. The words "predawn darkness", "poisonous" and "coral snake" are enought to scare me to death! I can see how Mrs. Shady freaked out, I would have, too. I'm with you about killing things BUT, can you image this coral snake being a mother and giving birth to lots and lots of snakes around your house? YiKeS!

Shelly, you are so right! I can't remember the last time I was swimming in a lake, it had to have been in the 80s. With snakes and The Creature from the Black Lagoon lurking around lakes, I feel better being in a swimming pool. ;-)

Petra, yes that little bird is special. One day I was listening to some whistling on the computer at my sister's house. Skeeter went wild with his whistling and we laughed until we cried. Thank you, Petra.
