Thanksgiving Thoughts

Another scene at the end of my sister's lane.  This lone cow begs
for a picture in this perfect composition.   I hurried and snapped
this picture from the car window.  I might add while safely at a stop sign.

Some leftovers awaiting someone years ago at
my mom's house.  I can't believe I did not take more pictures
on Thanksgiving Day, pictures with family.

Thanksgiving
Norman Rockwell,  November 24, 1945

This illustration usually does not come to mind when one thinks
of the Norman Rockwell Thanksgiving illustration.

I like this one.  A sentence about this scene:  In this instance the emotions
that have welled up in both mother and son take them beyond words.  Just
being together in the same room is all the communication that is needed.

I think this one is my favorites now depicting Thanksgiving.

This is a great one and the one that most often comes to mind when we
think of a Norman Rockwell Thanksgiving.

May my blog readers and friends have a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving today.

Wonderful. I'm sitting here surfing the web while my mom---still in her bath robe---reads Cormac McCarthy's "Suttree" on the sofa. It's a beautiful Thanksgiving morning in Knoxville, sunny and clear...

Your Thanksgiving breakfast was incredible---scrambled eggs, sausage balls, cheese grits and orange slices. All my mom could say at the table as she wolfed it down was "Ummmmmm, Ummmmmm, Ummmmmm....."

It's hard to believe you snapped that marvelous picture in a hurry at a stop sign. It's such a pleasing and nicely balanced composition that I would have guessed you used a tripod and agonized over it for a half hour like my dad would have done.

I love that first Rockwell, the mother and son Thanksgiving portrait. You are so right. Their expressions say it all and a picture is worth a thousand words.

Cindy, I feel blessed to have found a wise, witty and wonderful friend like you this past year. I wish you and Clint and your entire family a joyous Thanksgiving!

Tom ~ Hope you and your family enjoyed your time together and that Thanksgiving was a wonderful day for you all! Thank you, I am blessed, too, to have such a faithful, loyal, funny and entertaining friend! BTW, I am heading over next to the Dell, I think you had said you were were going to have a new post today. We are heading south for a few days, if my comment is shorter please don't think anything about it. It's hard to get online there and I am not sure I have mastered my new phone enough to leave a comment. I'll see :-) Thanks for taking time from your holiday to leave me a comment!

Carol ~ I appreciate you stopping by on this busy day, thank you! I hope you all had a joyful Thanksgiving!

Emma ~ It was so good to see you here, thank you for stopping by. I am going back to your blog and comment, I was so taken with your Bonnie and Clyde inspiration. There was some kind of interruption here before I could comment. Thank you again, Emma!

Rhonda ~ It's wonderful that you and your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I think Clint ate the last of the turkey this morning. I can only eat it for about two days :-). I think that is a blessing you can work at home two days a week. I hope the rest of your week goes smoothly, thank you, Rhonda, and I am blessed to have you as a new friend!

Starry Dawn ~ I sure hope you are much better, I need to check out your latest post and see if you have left any updates. You are so kind and thoughtful, thank you for your sweet words.

Karen ~ How I would love to visit Norman Rockwell's studio. I wonder if any of his old art supplies are still sitting around, I would love to see what all he used. Yes, we had a wonderful Thanksgiving, I admit I am still recovering. Clint was on the road driving 16 hours, I was on part of the trip. I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving, I need to see your latest work! Thank you, Karen.
