Recent Life Images

This photo was made a couple of weeks ago before daylight from our deck. Those are some
strange lights coming from that house.  My daughter said the image looks
like an owl to her.

A little one-legged baby field sparrow on our deck.

I want to believe this mother bird is giving encouragement to
her baby bird with one leg.

Last week I made shrimp scampi for dinner.  The next day was
warm and balmy and we had some left over Chardonny
we drank on the deck.

Once again another sunset photo.

A photo of church on Palm Sunday as we were leaving.  It was quite overcast that day.

Baby, it's cold outside.  March 2013

This little fellow, a baby hairy woodpecker, was on our deck yesterday morning.  So precious.

This photo of the Knoxville Sunsphere was made after
we left church on Palm Sunday.  The view was right in front
of us as were leaving the church.

What is it with me concerning these photos of
light and shadows?

My Sunset Sky

Clouds came floating into my life, no longer to carry rain or usher storm, but to add color to my sunset sky.

Sands Through the Hourglass

Pressed for time these days, I just had to take a few minutes and post something on my blog.  It has been a long time since I have posted anything.  We have been beyond busy these days like most of you reading this entry.

Saturday we went to a local indoor flea market.  I was very happy to have found a small gold leaf frame to add to my collection.  I plan on painting a small landscape done in oil to fit the frame.  I am using cotton rag watercolor paper for this oil painting which is something different for me.  The diameter is only four inches and I have already gessoed the paper, using three layers.

I am looking forward to getting this painted.  I have a sketch already drawn for a painting of an old boarding house, it will be painted in watercolor.  Boarding houses have always fascianted me.

Yes, this is a short note for now.  Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

This little piggy stayed home. NOT!

This afternoon I saw one of our teenage neighbor girls in our back yard with her dog on a leash.  I didn't think much of it, her dog Charly "leads" her all over the place.  A second later I saw this big black pig running across our backyard.  I yelled at Clint who was in his office, "Come quick and see this pig in our backyard!"  Of course the fast-running pig was gone by the time Clint looked outside. We stepped outside and Clint points at Charly and says, "Cindy, this is a dog."  I repeated, "I saw a pig" and our young neighbor agrees that I did see a pig.

She and her sister had tried to corner the pig in the back yard in a fenced in corner.  The pig would have no part of it and lunged at Charly.

The pig took off and crossed a couple of yards and headed to a small stream, two houses down. I snapped this photo just after he got out of the stream and mud.  One of the neighbor girls chased after him.  I met a new neighbor behind us who told me she fed the pig bread yesterday to keep him from running into narrow Dante Road. She said he had caused a young woman to almost wreck when he ran into the road.

Seriously, this poor animal, needs to be captured before it or someone gets hurt.  An animal control officer came and said she had chased it for a hour and a half a day or so ago.  We also found out neighbors were feeding the animal.

I can't believe in the dark early am hours, around 2:30 am this morning, I stepped out onto our deck in total darkness to try and determine the source of some loud music.  Forget loud music, there would have been some loud screaming if I had encountered this poor beast on our deck.

As I told Clint, I can't remember such excitement since we moved here!

Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress

Today I finished this portrait I started a long time ago.  I was quite pleased with the way she turned out.  Now I look forward to starting something new.  Some artists have different projects going on at once. There's been a lot of water under the bridge since I started this painting. During the mean time I did complete some rather daunting commissions and other painting projects.  Liking to complete a project before I start on something new, I'm looking forward to my next project.

UFOs in the Sky

The "before" photo this rainy morning.

This morning I made a photo from inside the rain splattered window outside.  I had no idea I would also capture the images of several UFOs in the photo.

The "after" photo after I removed the offending UFOs.

The ethereal effect in this photo came as a pleasant surprise.  I could not have duplicated the effect if I had tried.  The UFOs that were removed were reflections from the recessed kitchen lights.
