Happy Birthday to Me

My best friend and cousin Vickie on my right, my mom on my left.

♫   Faded photographs, covered now with lines and creases ...   ♫

♫  Memories in bits and pieces ...  ♫

Recently I came across this old photograph of me at my sixth birthday party.
I still remember details, it was held at my grandmother's house.  The cake had
little plastic ballerinas on it.  My grandmother made the cake and
decorated it.  I am sure the icing had cream cheese in it.

For a long time I kept some of the ribbons and ballerinas on
one of the paper party plates.  It was hanging up in my room.

Fast forward to the 2000s,  several years ago in a thrift/antique store
I found the exact decorations that were used at that
birthday party so long ago.  Blogging gives me an excuse
to get out the old ballerinas, plates, forks and spoons.

The pink in the plate comes across as orange in the photo.  Oh, well ...
I do live now in Big Orange Country.   :-)

My birthday cake today consists of one piece of Tiramisu from the Fresh Market.  Clint and I are heading to the gym.  When you work as hard as we have recently, it makes us think twice about having
the temptation of a whole cake around.

Get ready, Clint, tomorrow is your big day!  My mother-in-law always calls and sings Happy Birthday to the family members.  She just called me and it was so sweet to hear her "sing" Happy Birthday to me.  If she happens to read
this blog, she will laugh at me putting "sing" in quotation marks. This family totally understands.

It takes a long time to grow young

I am very familiar with "Traces" but I never heard that Beatles rendition of the birthday song. Now I have a song for you, Cindy: "Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen." :) Isn't it special that you and Clint have birthdays back-to-back? How convenient! I love old photos like the ones you shared in this post. You were a beautiful child, Cindy, and you are still growing young. In just two days it will be 5 years since the fateful fall down a flight of stairs that left Classics IV lead singer Dennis Yost brain damaged. As you might know, Dennis passed away at the end of 2008 but his distinctive voice will always be part of our lives by means of his evocative recordings. Have a wonderful, safe and happy birthday, dear friend Cindy. Same to you, Clint!

I also had the little ballerinas, they hold the candles. I may have them somewhere tucked away. What fun that was.

Shady - Your kinds were very appreciated, a big Thank You to You! I did not know about Dennis Yost becoming brain damaged from a fall. I was not even aware he passed away in 2008. I was working full time then and it seems I missed a lot of news during that time period. Sometimes I think people don't realize just how many ways we can become injured in home accidents. No matter how careful I am, sometimes I fall. I have already fallen in this house but landed on carpet! Anxious to see if you have a new blog posted! Thanks again, Shady, for the birthday wishes.

Aishah- Thank you so much for your visit and birthday greeting. I need to visit your blog and see your latest work! Take care.

Vilisi@islandmusings- It was so nice to know you visited my blog and thank you so much! Yesterday I read your fantastic blog post about island life, Clint and I both enjoyed it. I had you a comment on your blog typed and then an "error" message showed in the box! sigh Now I am hearing that Blogger is going to be making some changes, I suppose I should say Google. I wonder how it will affect our blog addresses. My followers have disappeared from my blog, other may be able to see them but I can't. Been going on for at least two months.
I will visit your blog again, soon, and hopefully be able to leave a comment! ♥

Patrina's Pencil - It was so good to see you here, thank you for stopping by and for the birthday greeting!

Ginny - I had forgotten that the ballerinas held the little cangles, the ones I have are still in the package and I didn't even look at them that closely. Today's Clint's Birthday, he is wanting King Rance Casserole so I will be making it. We just got back from working out, we were there 2 hrs and 15 mins. Whew! It's just something we have to do. Hope you had a good weekend and write when you can. Thank you Ginny for your birthday greeting!Love, Cindy

Petra - You were not too late for your birthday wishes, I appreciated them very much. Hope things are going well with you and that no more cats have given birth to kittens in your bed! :-)
I will never forget that story! I think you won't either but just think, what a blog post it was! Take care, Petra, and thank you so much for your "Happy Birthday" wishes.

VertAnge - Thank you so much for your visit and greetings. It was so good to know you stopped by and I need to visit you! ♥
