Oh My Papa

designed and made.

♫ Always the clown,
So funny in his way ...  ♫

My dad, while on a deep sea fishing trip, drink in hand pretending
to be jailed on the boat.  Just one of his many Jerry-Lewis-Antics.

Florida, 1957

"Always the clown, so funny in his way" is a song lyric from "Oh My Papa.

Hi, Cindy! I went back to your previous post and read your replies. Thank you! I'm sorry that you keep losing material you have written before you can post it. Since Blogger is so unpredictable lately and my comments tend to be lengthy like yours I've gotten into the habit of copying them before trying to preview or submit. That way if the computer feeezes up, it doesn't go through and everything disappears, I can simply paste the text back into the form and try again until it works.

I can see where the daughter got her good looks. Your dad is a very handsome man and he does indeed look like Jerry Lewis in that gag photo. He also looks like Dick Clark in that 1967 picture. Don't you agree? I love seeing your family photos especially when they include you. I remember "Oh My Papa" very well because my parents owned that 45 and I often played it as a young boy. Happy Sunday and Happy Father's Day, dear friends!

Good Monday morning ... Shady, Sabine and Sweetmother. These names sound like the name of a great singing trio ;-)

Shady, thank you for your kind words. I will simply "right-click" to save my long comments, hopefully before I lose them. Thanks for the great idea. We all know how maddening it is to lose your work on here. You just can't seem to recapture that first writing.

I looked again at my dad's picture and he surely does resemble Dick Clark. Your mom and dad had good taste in music if they owned the 45 of "Oh My Papa". I think we must have had that record, too, when I was young. The memories all came flooding back in the 1990s when I heard Eddie Fisher sing that song on a TV show. Hope Monday is a good one for you, thanks again!

Sabine, it is so good to see you again on here. You are such a faithful person, as I have told you before, Clint and I both appreciate your visits. Hope things are going well with you on the other side of the world! ♥

Hi Angela (Sweet Mother) It is also so good to see you again on here. You have a wonderful blog! I have been so behind in my reading of other blogs. May your Monday be a good one ... take care and thanks again.
